The 2026 Global Developers Pioneer Conference and International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition will be held in Shanghai in October

China News Service, Shanghai, September 30 (Reporter Zheng Yingying) The reporter recently learned from the Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Commission that the 2026 Global Developers Pioneer Conference and International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition will be held in Shanghai from October 23 to 25.

Pan Yan, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, said that the just-concluded 48th World Skills Competition vividly demonstrated that skills are the core force driving innovation and development in the real world. “If traditional skills hone human hands-on practical skills, then in the era of embodied intelligence, skills are also the key for artificial intelligence to enter the real physical world.”

According to Pan Yan, in the first half of 2026, the scale of Shanghai's artificial intelligence regulated industry exceeded 330 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.6%. Currently, Shanghai's embodied intelligence industry is accelerating from a period of technology and product aggregation to a period of large-scale implementation of scenarios. In the next stage, Shanghai will further focus on advantageous industries such as automobile manufacturing, integrated circuits, electronic information, high-end equipment, and modern service industries, and explore a number of scenarios with clear tasks, clear values, and sustainable operations, giving companies the opportunity to verify technologies and iterate products in a real environment. On the other hand, Shanghai will further strengthen collaboration among robot companies, model companies, and core component companies to promote single-point product verification toward system solutions.

Zhong Junhao, Secretary General of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Industry Association, introduced the overall preparations for the conference. This conference takes the International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition as the core carrier and is organized and implemented in accordance with the overall structure of "1 competition, 1 opening ceremony, and N developer activities". It strives to create a national demonstration platform for real-life combat in the field of embodied intelligence, and promote technological innovation breakthroughs and large-scale implementation of robots and embodied intelligence. The International Embodied Intelligent Skills Competition focuses on real needs in industry, services, special operations and other fields, relying on 9 key tracks and 23 competition items, and plans to bring together more than 200 competition teams and more than 300 robot companies. The series of developer activities will be launched around the three dimensions of "developer ideas and community field", "cutting-edge technology practical training" and "AI vertical scenario industry implementation", building a bridge between the developer community and industrial practice.
