우주청은 위성정보 활용 저변을 넓히고 우주항공 분야 인재를 발굴하기 위해 기존 '위성정보활용 경진대회'를 확대해 지난해부터 해커톤으로 진행해왔다.
참가 부문은 ▲ 위성정보 빅데이터 활용 아이디어 ▲ 위성 활용 비즈니스 모델 ▲ 초소형 위성 임무 아이디어 3개 부문이며 세부 주제는 참가자가 직접 정한다.
대학생과 대학원생, 스타트업, 중소·중견기업 재직자가 대회에 참가할 수 있다.
