China News Service, Beijing, September 6 (Reporter Ying Ni) Beijing Photography Week 2026, with the theme of "Image: Shared Feelings and Wisdom", kicked off on the 5th at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing.
The opening ceremony started with the "Road to Photography" entrance ceremony. When explaining the theme of this year, Yang Yuanxing, founder and chairman of the organizing committee of Beijing Photography Week, said that "sympathy" emphasizes the ability of images to connect individual experience and public emotions, while "wisdom" is a sober examination of visual changes in the era of artificial intelligence. Facing the new technological environment, photography must not only maintain true, profound, and warm expressions, but also constantly explore new international communication paths for Chinese images.
The exhibitions of this photography week are rich in content and diverse in themes, divided into themes such as the spirit of the times, international exchanges and imaging scholarship, cultural inheritance, artistic practice, and industry ecology. Among them, "Set sail to start a new journey, carving beautiful chapters with light and shadow - focusing on the national mainstream media news photography exhibition at the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan" brings together more than 400 excellent news photography works, focusing on major projects, cutting-edge technology, natural ecology, people's livelihood development and other fields.
The international exchange section is a highlight this year. "The Eyes on the History of World Photography - An Exhibition of Classic Works from the Hungarian Museum of Photography" focuses on the works of 12 Hungarian photographers who influenced the process of modern photography in the 20th century, including André Kertész. Most of the works are publicly exhibited in China for the first time.
In the cultural inheritance section, "Eye of the Times - Beijing Photography Week Tribute Exhibition" brings together the representative works of four senior photographers, Yang Yuanxing, Zhu Xianmin, Chen Changfen and Ren Guoen, and the first "Chinese Ancient Architecture" photography exhibition "Craftsmanship·Classic Spreading" is presented at the same time.
In addition, the "Cloud Image" mass mobile phone photography exhibition and the 2026 Silk Road Youth Outstanding Photography Exhibition will continue to be held, making photography an art form that everyone can participate in.
Zhao Yingxin, artistic director of Beijing Photography Week, said that truly powerful images always come from real scenes and long-term accumulation. On the basis of such hard work, Photography Week will continue to record the times and dialogue with the world.
The main exhibition venue of Beijing Photography Week 2026 is located at the China Millennium Monument, and is linked to many parallel exhibition areas such as He·Art Museum, Three Shadows, Wukesong and Huairou. This photography week is jointly organized by the China Art Photography Society, the China Photographers Association, the China Press Photography Society, and the Capital Culture and Technology Group Co., Ltd. The exhibition will last until September 13.
