2026 Guangdong Art Film Festival·Vietnamese Film Screening Concluded in Guangzhou and Zhongshan

China News Service, Guangzhou, September 6 (Reporter Cai Minjie) The reporter learned from the Guangdong Provincial Film Bureau on the 5th that the 2026 Guangdong Art Film Festival Vietnam Film Screening came to an end in Guangzhou and Zhongshan on the 4th, bringing a feast of light and shadow full of poetic Southeast Asia to audiences in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

This edition of the film festival kicked off on August 28, and selected 8 excellent Chinese and Vietnamese films, including "Bright Ashes", "Sloris Never Cry", "The Ballad of Paper Water" and other Vietnamese films, as well as "Bang!" "Youth", "I'm Not the God of Medicine" and other Chinese film and television works. These films may focus on the fate of women, explore their identity, record endangered civilizations, or wrap up the weight of history.

The surprises of the film festival don’t stop at the screen. This year's film festival held the "Follow the Movies and Taste Food" event, and "Mekong River Flavor Stations" were simultaneously launched in theaters in Guangzhou and Zhongshan.

At the event site, simulated thatch stalls, coconut shell bowls, bamboo baskets and mini Vietnamese bamboo hats created a Nanyang atmosphere. Individually packaged oatmeal rolls, Ben Tre coconut candy, Vietnamese mung bean cake and other foods are available on site. Audiences can receive an experience pack by presenting their ticket stub for the film festival on that day.

A "movie review note" check-in area is set up on site to encourage audiences to write down their impressions for display and exchange. A "bamboo hat" check-in area is set up, where straw mats and bamboo hat props are laid out for the audience to take photos, allowing the Vietnamese style to extend from the screen to the corners of the theater.

"I just finished watching "Bright Embers" and smelled the scent of coconut sugar when I came out." Ms. Chen, an audience member from Zhongshan, said. She specially took a photo in the "Dou Li" check-in area and posted it to WeChat Moments with the text "Pretend to be in Vietnam."

From the screening of Canadian films in March to the screening of Vietnamese films in September this year, the 2026 Guangdong Art Film Festival has covered seven cities: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan and Zhongshan. (over)
