2026 Chinese Cultural Paradise Malaysia Kota Kinabalu closed. Students’ performance concludes the China-Malaysia cultural exchange trip

China News Service, Kuala Lumpur, September 7 (Reporter Liu Yuying) The closing ceremony of the "2026 Chinese Cultural Paradise - Kota Kinabalu Malaysia" which lasted for more than ten days ended on the 6th at Jianguo Secondary School in Kota Kinabalu (Kota Kinabalu), Sabah, Malaysia. The students concluded their journey with a wonderful performance, drawing a warm and successful conclusion to this China-Malaysia cultural exchange journey across mountains and seas.

This event is hosted by Beijing Chinese Language College and hosted by Sabah Malaysia-China Friendship Association. The event brought together 13 senior teachers to offer 12 special courses such as folk dance, drums, martial arts, calligraphy and painting, shadow puppets, paper cutting, and ethereal drums, allowing Malaysian teenagers to immerse themselves in the charm of traditional Chinese culture.

At the closing ceremony, the results were displayed brilliantly. The big drum ensemble "Soul of the River Drum" is majestic; the Dai dance "Dai Rain" and the folk dance "Pomegranate Blossom" are dynamic and show the national customs; the ethereal drum ensemble, martial arts performances, and classic singing "Xiaoya Lu Ming" and "Shangchun Mountain" take turns. Featured programs such as the intangible cultural heritage shadow puppet display, handmade calligraphy and painting gatherings, and the stage play "A Letter from Overseas Chinese: Letters from Nanyang" interpret the profound heritage of Chinese culture.

At the ceremony, Kong Xuemei, deputy dean of Beijing Chinese College, Ye Shen, chairman of Kota Kinabalu Jianguo Secondary School and honorary president of the Sabah Malaysia-China Friendship Association, and others delivered speeches. Beijing Chinese Language College donated all the teaching materials for this event, including costumes and props, calligraphy and painting pens and inks, handmade materials, ethereal drums, shadow puppetry equipment, etc., to Kota Kinabalu Jianguo Secondary School.

Liao Yixuan, a representative of the campers, shared her learning experience. She admitted that she felt challenged when she first came into contact with folk dance. Gradually she felt the joy of stretching her whole body while dancing. She also learned that traditional art is not just "fun", "it has roots and origins". (over)
