The annual box office of Chinese movies will exceed 30 billion yuan in 2026

China News Service, Beijing, October 3 (Reporter Gao Kai) According to Beacon Professional Edition data, as of 11:04 a.m. on October 3, Beijing time, the annual box office of Chinese movies (including pre-sales) in 2026 exceeded 30 billion yuan, with a total number of moviegoers reaching 763 million, and a total of 112 million screenings.

Judging from the annual box office list, "Flying Life 3", "Kung Fu Girls", "Welcome to Dragon Restaurant" and "Eight Immortals!" ""A Love Letter to Grandma" is temporarily listed in the top five, all of which are domestic films. Among them, "Flying Life 3" temporarily ranks first, with a box office of more than 4.4 billion yuan; "Kung Fu Girls" and "Welcome to Dragon Restaurant" both exceeded 2.3 billion yuan; "Eight Immortals!" ” and “Love Letter to Grandma” both exceeded 2 billion yuan.

It is currently the National Day holiday, and the scheduled movies are being released intensively. As of October 3, the total box office for the 2026 National Day season (including pre-sales) has exceeded 400 million yuan. During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, more than 20 Chinese and foreign films will be screened, including suspense, comedy, action, animation, romance and other genres, which are considered to meet the different viewing needs of the audience.

Currently, "Trace of the Detective", "What Do You Mean Couple", and the long-running film "Welcome to Dragon's Restaurant" released in the summer are currently among the top three in the National Day box office list. The industry believes that "Rebirth 2" released on October 3 and "Resident Evil: Outbreak Night" released on October 5 are expected to effectively support the popularity of the National Day season in the second half.

Behind the market enthusiasm, there are not only high-quality content igniting the movie-going craze, but also the continuous upgrade of cinema halls, new "movie+" gameplay and AI technology to expand consumption scenarios. Statistics from the China National Film Administration show that as of the end of September, there had been a net increase of 438 theaters and 2,632 screens throughout the year, bringing the total number of screens nationwide to 95,819.
