Research by the German Space Center shows that Mercury continues to shrink due to internal cooling, and the actual shrinkage may be about 30% higher than past estimates. Researchers believe that impact debris on Mercury's surface masked wrinkles formed by some of the contraction, leading to past estimates of its diameter reduction.

A team from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has developed a new carbon monitoring system for the next generation carbon satellite (TanSat-2), successfully distinguishing between accounting carbon sinks and anthropogenic carbon emissions in simulation observations, providing key technical support for global carbon cycle monitoring.

A UCLA-led study identifies a link between unusually high land surface temperatures on the Tibetan Plateau and record-breaking winter rainfall in California during the 2016-2017 and 2022-2023 seasons, which caused billions in damages and multiple deaths.

The asteroid with international number 470341 was officially named "Pan Jianwei Star" in recognition of Pan Jianwei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, for his pioneering contributions in the fields of quantum technology such as multi-particle entanglement and free-space quantum transmission.
A team of Chinese scientists proposed and developed a new method and new system for carbon monitoring and accounting for the next generation of carbon satellites. It successfully achieved differentiated accounting of carbon sinks and anthropogenic carbon emissions in simulated observations. The relevant results were recently published in "Progress in Atmospheric Science".
The Shennongjia National Park Administration reported that scientific researchers discovered an albino pika in an area nearly 2,900 meters above sea level. Experts identified it as the named subspecies of Qinling pika. In recent years, Shennongjia has continued to strengthen ecological protection, and rare albino animals such as albino Qinling pikas and albino Asian black bears have been discovered.
