On September 27, the 2026 Beijing Yanqing "Super Mountain" Challenge was held in the Yudu Mountain Scenic Area. Nearly a hundred outdoor sports enthusiasts gathered in Yanqing to complete bicycle hill climbing, open water swimming, cross-country running and other events in the mountains, streams and natural scenery.

The event has two categories: triathlon and biathlon. The triathlon covers the three events of "bicycle hill climbing", "open water swimming" and "cross-country running". The biathlon consists of "bicycle hill climbing" and "cross-country running", and different groups are set up according to different distances. After competition, the men's and women's championships in the eventing long distance were won by Hao Zhiqing and Yang Yuexiao respectively, and the men's and women's championships in the eventing short distance were won by Xu Haiyang and Bai Ju respectively. WILLIAMS CONNOR won the men's championship in the eventing long distance, and the men's and women's championships in the eventing short distance were won by Chen Wenzhen and Tian Lei respectively.
Yudu Mountain Scenic Area is located in the mountainous area in the northwest of Yanqing City, providing rich natural space for outdoor sports. This event makes full use of the mountain and water conditions in the scenic area, combining bicycle hill climbing, open water swimming and cross-country running. The bicycle hill climbing track has a cumulative climb of 581 meters, and the cross-country running track has a cumulative climb of 405 meters and a descent of 395 meters. Participants can switch exercise states between different events and experience the different natural landscapes of Yudu Mountain during continuous outdoor exercise.
In order to allow fans with different sports foundations and participation habits to find a challenge that suits them, the event has two participation methods: eventing and biathlon, and is further divided into four categories: long distance and short distance. Among them, eventing - long distance total distance 32.5 kilometers, triathlon - short distance total distance 16.75 kilometers; biathlon - long distance total distance 31 kilometers, biathlon - short distance total distance 16 kilometers. Participants can choose events and distances based on their own circumstances. They do not have to have the sole purpose of completing high-intensity competitive goals. They can also regard the competition as an opportunity to go outdoors and experience different sports.

The transition between bicycle hill climbing, open water swimming and cross-country running makes the entire race more like a sports experience in the mountains. After the race, Mindaugas Stonkus from Lithuania shared: "This is my first time to Yudu Mountain Scenic Area, and the race experience here is very good. Whether it is cycling or running, the scenery along the way is very beautiful, which makes me feel that this is not only a race, but also an experience of exercising in the mountains and enjoying nature."
The person in charge of the event operator said: "The natural environment of Yudu Mountain provides a good scene for outdoor sports. Different natural elements such as mountains, waters and forests also give the event a richer sports experience. We hope that through the 'Super Mountain' Challenge, more people will discover the fun of outdoor sports. We will also bring sports people to Yanqing, Beijing and Yudu Mountain through the event, making participation another way to get to know a city and a scenic spot."
