On the morning of the 9th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a press conference on the overall arrangements and preparations for the 2026 Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival. Lei Liugong, director of the Office of the Steering Committee for the Organization of the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival and director of the Department of Market and Information Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that the overall arrangements for this year's Harvest Festival are divided into two levels.
The first level is the activities organized by the organizing committee. 17 member units of the organizing committee, including the Central Propaganda Department and the Ministry of Education, will jointly participate and will organize 47 key activities, which can be summarized as "1+N". "1" is the national home event, which will be held in Dongjiao Village, Zaoyang City, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province. "N" means that farmers are the main body. Member units of the organizing committee will organize and carry out 46 key activities such as the National Large-scale Free Clinic Week, the National Science Popularization Month Agricultural and Rural Home Events, and the "Golden Autumn Consumption Season", covering services such as science and technology, legal popularization, free clinics, culture and sports, and production and marketing docking.
The second level is the activities carried out by local organizations. Around the theme of the Harvest Festival, focusing on the production and living needs of farmers, various regions carry out a series of colorful and regionally distinctive celebration activities to display harvest results, show farmers' style, promote farming culture, and promote the consumption of agricultural products.
This year’s Harvest Festival has four features. The first is to show good harvest results. This year, summer grain production has increased, early rice production has been stable, autumn grain area has increased steadily, and most of them are growing normally. There is a good foundation for achieving a bumper grain harvest throughout the year. The supply of green and high-quality agricultural products continues to increase, people's dining tables are getting richer, and the agricultural and rural economy maintains a stable and positive momentum. This is the background and confidence for a successful harvest festival. Through the Harvest Festival, the Party's policies of strengthening agriculture, benefiting farmers and enriching farmers, the development achievements of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" and the good life of farmers are presented. Typical characters, typical examples and typical scenes of the whole society uniting to achieve a good harvest are displayed, and a positive signal of a stable agricultural foundation and a good foundation for the development of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" is fully released. The second is to do practical things that benefit farmers. Establish and practice a correct view of political performance, insist on benefiting the people, focus on assisting agricultural development, and focus on serving the people. The third is to enrich the cultural heritage.
