ATV accident on forest road: Conflicting statements of witness and complainant, Aci family rejected compensation

Witness Süleyman Keçici stated that the ATV vehicle broke down after refueling on the forest road and said: "We tried to repair the vehicle. The forest was dark, the late Oğuz Murat Aci turned his vehicle so that there would be light for the oncoming vehicles so that they would notice. One or two vehicles had passed us before the accident. They slowed down because they saw the light, and even one vehicle wanted to stop and help. After that vehicle passed, we saw a vehicle on the bend and they hit us immediately.

I fainted during the accident and fell down the cliff. I went out with my own effort. My friend named İbrahim Gümüş came to me. Our friend named Tahsin was under a car. After taking Tahsin out, I noticed that Oğuz was not around. I looked at where I fell, Aci was lying on his side near where I fell. Then the medical teams came."

Complainant Pervin Aci said to witness Süleyman Keçici, "You said to a lady, 'Can you take me out?', and the lady said, 'Thorns will prick my feet.' Is this statement true?" He asked the question: Witness Keçici answered the question by saying, "I told everything I remembered. There is no such statement in my statements. Nothing like this happened."

The Public Prosecutor asked the witness about the time between the vehicle entering the curve and hitting the complainants. Witness Keçici said, "Everything happened within 2 seconds. I think he came at a speed of 120-130 kilometers at first."

Oğuz Murat Aci's father, Özer Aci, reacted to the compensation offer. "It's been almost 30 months, I remember it like it was yesterday. We said 'come and support us' morally, let alone the financial part, but we have not received any moral support until today. We do not accept financial support either. We do not need such a thing," he said.

He said that they would not accept the bitter money offer and said, "They have already given the money to those who have taken it, it does not concern me. But I think they need to believe that they cannot defeat us and justice with money." he said.
