China News Service, Guangzhou, October 4 (Reporter Zhang Lu) The reporter learned from the Guangdong Outdoor Sports Association on October 4 that the 2026 Tibet Nyingchi Namjagbarwa Plateau Sports Conference-South Guangdong Ancient Post Road Orienteering Competition (Tibet Nyingchi Station) and PWT International Orienteering Invitational Competition were recently held in Gongbu Park and Nixi Area, Bayi District, Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region.
It is understood that this is the third consecutive year that the Southern Guangdong Ancient Post Road Orienteering Competition has entered Linzhi, Tibet since 2024. The two-day competition attracted more than 1,000 people to participate. Many global champions and National Games champions gathered at the "Roof of the World" to compete. The overall presentation showed the characteristics of Guangdong-Tibet linkage, national participation, and international diversity.

The event introduced the PWT International Orienteering Invitational Competition in Tibet for the first time, attracting many orienteering elites from 22 countries including Kazakhstan and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to participate.
This event is divided into five categories: elite group, professional group, children's group, adult group and experience group. There is a warm-up race and two short distance races.
The first competition officially kicked off in Gongbu Park in Linzhi, Tibet. The contestants chased each other in the forest roads with regular trees, explored check-in points in the patchwork forest green plants, and competed fiercely in a dual contest of speed and wisdom. The second race was held in the Nixi area of Linzhi, Tibet. The track in the original alpine forest area put forward higher requirements for the contestants' lower limb muscle endurance, and at the same time, it also brought a rich wild interest to the contestants that was different from that in city parks.
Tournament referee Cai Juhong said that as the 90th stop of the Southern Guangdong Ancient Post Road Orienteering Competition, the addition of the PWT International Orienteering Invitational Tournament will not only spread Guangdong's unique sports culture, event concepts and organizational models to Tibet and even the international stage, but also bring Tibet's unique The national culture and plateau sports characteristics are presented to the world, and Linzhi adds a brand sports event with international influence, setting up a high-level international exchange and competition platform for Guangdong and Tibet and international athletes, coaches, referees and sports enthusiasts.
In addition to the warm-up performance full of Tibetan characteristics, this event also launched a special set of commemorative marking flags, divided into two groups of saffron and turquoise, with three sides in each group, a total of six sides, combining prayer wheels, yak, snow Tibetan cultural symbols such as mountains, prayer flags, and Minajangmu dance are integrated into the orienteering flag, as well as natural images such as the majestic Namjagbarwa, the unique white-cheeked macaques of Linzhi Medog, white forest shrubs, and soft fallen leaves.
In the agricultural specialty product display area at Xiangjian Square in Gongbu Park, the main venue of the event, there is a dazzling array of local specialty agricultural products such as Linzhi apples, Gongbu Jiangda walnuts, and Linzhi Ganoderma lucidum.
In the Xiangjian experience area, contestants experienced the unique charm of traditional Tibetan archery with their own hands.
During the event, the organizers organized domestic and foreign athletes to visit Basongcuo Scenic Area and other scenic spots.
According to reports, as a mass brand event in Guangdong that emerged from the revitalization of ancient roads, the South Guangdong Ancient Post Road Orienteering Competition has enhanced the brand image and popularity of Linzhi tourism by building a "one-day competition, multiple days of stay", "one person participation, multiple people traveling", "one competition, multiple consumption" "sports + agricultural and cultural tourism" development model, enhancing the brand image and popularity of Linzhi tourism, and providing new momentum for local economic and social development.
