Prince Abdul Rahman bin Musaed criticizes the Roshen League 2026/27 match schedule

(CNN) - Saudi Prince Abdul Rahman bin Musaed bin Abdulaziz criticized the “crowdedness” of the “Roshen” League matches schedule this season 2026/2027.

Abdul Rahman bin Musaed wrote through his account on the “X” platform, on Monday: “I think that there was a big mistake in scheduling the league. Nowhere in the world is there a schedule that forces teams to play every three days (at the beginning of a season in which players’ fitness is deficient), and in hot weather like the one we have, this matter has cost most clubs injuries to their players, including injuries that require a long period of recovery.”

He added: "If this had been in the middle of the season, it would have been understandable, as the atmosphere would be better and the fitness would be more complete. It is true that there is an exception this season (the Gulf Cup and the Asian Cup for the national teams), but an exception could also have been made this season, making the Super Cup one match and the Moulay Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup having 16 teams, not 32, and also extending the end of the season by one week."

He continued: “I say this with my awareness that there are obligatory stopping days for us, such as Hajj days and others, but the multiplicity of injuries in all clubs is only due to this scheduling and the pressure of matches at ((the beginning of)) the season.”

7 rounds have been played in the Saudi Professional League so far, and the competition began on August 13.

Al-Hilal Club leads the standings with 18 points, one point behind Al-Ittihad Club.
