A hailstorm swept through Santiago, the capital of Chile, causing water bombs to rain down on subway stations and chunks of ice floating on the roads, paralyzing the city center. In the western region, tornado-like strong winds tore off the roof of a bus terminal, destroyed buildings, and toppled dozens of trees. Precipitation this month was 108 mm, more than a third of the annual average, and the Chilean Meteorological Administration judged it to be an unusual spring rain due to the El Niño phenomenon.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held the '2026 Artificial Intelligence Forum for Climate Action' in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Case studies of AI technology for responding to climate crises in developing countries were shared, and climate adaptation platform 'Clymade' developed by a Tanzanian research team won the AI Award.
