IRKUTSK, September 28 – RIA Novosti. The first flight of the shortened version of the MS-21 aircraft is expected in August 2028, parts of the aircraft are already being manufactured, said Andrey Soynov, general director of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant branch of Yakovlev PJSC (part of the UAC Rostec State Corporation).

“Our task as a plant is to lift the plane into the air in August 2028. And we will cope with this task. The first parts are already being manufactured, they are already on the machines. Detailed schedules have been developed. Therefore, I have no doubt that we will lift the plane by August 28,” Soynov told reporters.

In September, the largest contract in the history of Russian civil aviation for the supply of MS-21 aircraft to Aeroflot was signed in Moscow. MS-21 is a medium-range narrow-body aircraft developed by the Yakovlev Corporation (part of UAC Rostec). The capacity of the new generation aircraft ranges from 163 to 211 passengers.
