21-year-old sentenced for ordering arson from Thailand

From a hotel room in Thailand, the 21-year-old man sat and ordered arson on Råslätt and on Liljeholmen. A woman in her 30s was sentenced in June to four years in prison for the arson on Råslätt and two children under the age of 15 were judged guilty of the fire on Liljeholmen, but due to their young age received no punishment.

Hired Norwegian 17-year-old

The man was acquitted of inciting the fire in Sävsjö in mid-June 2025 in the Jönköping district court. Two young men, a 17-year-old from Norway and an 18-year-old from the Highlands, were sentenced last fall for attempted and aiding and abetting attempted arson. Now the 21-year-old is being sentenced for ordering that fire as well.

The 21-year-old man, who grew up in a municipality in the Highlands, was arrested in Thailand by immigration authorities and deported to Sweden in December last year. Thai authorities then handed over four mobile phones, which they confiscated. Extensive evidence was found in the phones that he ordered the fires.

A 22-year-old man, who is related to the 21-year-old, was sentenced in the district court to five years in prison for aiding and abetting arson. For him, the sentence is now reduced to four years.
