Jiangsu public security organs have solved 2,165 cybercrime cases this year, saving 890 million yuan in economic losses

The reporter learned from the press conference of the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department that since the beginning of this year, the Jiangsu Public Security Bureau has carried out the "Clean Network 2026" special operation and solidly promoted the "Network Protection 2026" special work. A total of 2,165 cases have been detected, and more than 2,100 hidden dangers have been investigated and rectified. The overall work effectiveness ranks among the top in the country.

In terms of cracking down on prominent cyber crimes, the Jiangsu Public Security Bureau has deepened its efforts to crack down on online gangs and eliminate evil, focusing on investigating 10 new types of gang crimes, such as online public opinion blackmail, online "routine loans", and online violence. A total of 130 Internet-related gang crimes have been investigated and 32 gangs have been destroyed; they have cracked down on infringement of citizens' personal information. In terms of crime, we carried out cluster crackdowns on industries prone to data leakage, such as training institutions, intermediary services, logistics and express delivery, and detected 333 cases; we also cracked down on network hacker attacks, focusing on illegal intrusions, illegal acquisition of computer information system data and other illegal crimes, and 282 cases were detected.

In terms of systematically managing Internet chaos, the Jiangsu Public Security Bureau investigated and dealt with 990 relevant illegal cases and investigated and punished 1,676 relevant personnel. It insisted on cracking down on Internet rumors when they surfaced. During the passage of Typhoons "Bavi" and "White Dolphin" in Jiangsu, the use of AI to edit and create false reports was investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law. Disaster-affected videos spread rumors; crack down on online violence, pay close attention to insults, slander, paid scolding, trolls and other illegal public relations, and strictly investigate the illegal industry chain behind them; crack down on the "rice circle" chaos, the Nanjing Lukou International Airport Public Security Bureau arrested 23 suspects of stealing and trading celebrities' private data.

In terms of safeguarding development, the Jiangsu Public Security Bureau investigated and rectified more than 2,100 network system vulnerabilities and hidden dangers, proactively discovered 628 clues to block ransomware viruses, data leaks and other network security incidents, provided 1,639 network security "physical examination" services to enterprises, solved 806 network security problems, solved 48 cases of cyber crimes against enterprises, and recovered 890 million yuan in economic losses.

On the same day, the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department also released five typical cases each of the "Network Clean-2026" and "Network Protection-2026" special projects, involving illegal acquisition of computer information system data, assisting information network criminal activities, online nude chatting and extortion, infringement of citizens' personal information, failure to perform data security protection obligations, etc.
