After U.S. President Trump held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House on the 24th, Eastern Time, he held a state dinner at the White House in the evening to entertain Xi Jinping. Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the state banquet, reviewing the exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States in their 250-year history.

According to CNN, Xi Jinping first mentioned former U.S. President George Washington’s keen interest in collecting Chinese porcelain, and then talked about the Chinese and American troops fighting side by side against Japan during World War II, calling it a “friendship forged in bloody battles.”

Xi Jinping then reviewed former US President Richard Nixon's historic visit to China in 1972. Nixon shook hands with then-Chinese leader Mao Zedong, marking the beginning of the normalization of Sino-US relations.

Xi Jinping pointed out that history is like a river that never stops, and called on the two countries to continue cooperation in the future. He said, "Let us jointly cultivate the beautiful flowers of Sino-US friendship and jointly write a new chapter in Sino-US friendly relations."

Xi Jinping finally emphasized that Trump's "Make America Great Again" agenda can go hand in hand with China's goal of "great national rejuvenation." He said, "China and the United States must be responsible major countries, live up to the expectations of the two peoples, follow the trend of the times, and explore new ways for major countries to get along with each other."
