A spear tip from the Battle of Kulikovo was found in the Nepryadva River

In the Nepryadva River, Tula Region, they found a “participant” of the legendary battle on the nearby Kulikovo Field - a spear tip, MK said.

The tip was found by Nikolai Barmatin, a resident of the village of Monastyrshchino. It is still unknown who owned the spear from which it flew off - a Russian or a Golden Horde warrior. This is the first discovery at the site of an ancient battle in the last 50 years.

The Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences noted that the find confirms the version that the battle could have been fought using heavy cavalry and heavy spears. According to Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Makarov, spears and tips are very rare finds; archaeologists usually came across smaller parts.

The artifact was presented by scientists on September 8, the day of Dmitry Donskoy’s victory over the Golden Horde in 1380.
