On September 28, the Moscow City Court will consider the defense's appeals against the sentence of Lerchek's ex-husband Artem Chekalin, who was sentenced to seven years in prison.

On September 28, the Moscow City Court will consider the defense's appeals against the sentence of the ex-husband of blogger Lerchek Artem Chekalin, who was sentenced to seven years in prison for withdrawing more than 250 million rubles in the UAE to the accounts of non-residents, RIA Novosti was told in court.

On April 13, the Gagarinsky Court of Moscow sentenced Chekalin to seven years in prison with a fine of more than 194 million rubles for withdrawing more than 250 million rubles to the UAE accounts of non-residents.

“The Moscow City Court will consider appeals against Chekalin’s sentence on September 28,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

Now Chekalin is in a pre-trial detention center.

As the investigation indicated, Artem and Valeria (blogger Lerchek) Chekalin, as well as their former partner Roman Vishnyak, transferred more than 251.5 million rubles from sales of a fitness marathon network in the UAE to the accounts of non-residents by providing false documents. Chekalin himself, in his testimony in court, refuted these arguments and stated that no documents were provided to the bank.

Vishnyak pleaded guilty and entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation; in January the court sentenced him to 2.5 years in prison.
