Guwahati: CJP's Ashutosh Ranka detained, BJP MLA challenges Abhijeet Deepke.

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke has challenged Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the detention of Ashutosh Ranka by Assam Police from Guwahati.

CJP alleges that Ashutosh Ranka was detained along with his team just before the party's 'regional volunteers meet' on Sunday (27 September 2026).

CJP has been visiting schools in many areas of the country for the last few days and is sharing videos and pictures of the schools on social media and telling about the condition there.

CJP alleges that the condition of government schools in many areas of the country is very bad. According to Ashutosh Ranka, he has reached Assam for this very purpose and for this he was going to hold a meeting with the local workers there.

Ashutosh Ranka had said on Saturday, "The purpose of coming to Guwahati is the same as in the rest of the country. For a long time, the youth of the country have been struggling with basic problems. The government has ignored many basic issues across the country. Today we are fighting to improve our schools and fix the education system."

"We have a huge support base in the state and a large number of people have associated with us. In the coming days, I will visit some schools in the state and meet some of our volunteers. I will also meet people who have been affected by SIR," he said.

BJP MLA from Lakhimpur, Assam, Manab Deka, while sharing a post of Abhijit Deepke, wrote, "Assam does not need to be taught a lesson of courage. Assam had stopped the powerful Mughals on the basis of its courage and determination. The people of Assam know how to deal with Mughals like you."

“Before announcing your visit to Assam, read the history of this land and understand its people. This is the land which has never bowed down to threats and will never bow down before threats.”

Meanwhile, CJP's legal affairs chief Ratna Singh has made a post on X regarding the reason behind the arrest of Ashutosh Ranka and his team. This post of his has also been shared by Saurav Das.

Ratna Singh wrote, "Ashutosh Ranka and others have been in the police station since morning. They are still kept in custody and now the police is citing medical examination as the reason for keeping them there."

According to him, "Meanwhile, our talented team inspected the washroom of the police station. I am told that its condition is very bad. There is foul smell, flushes are not working and cleanliness is also not good."

He wrote, "Please fix the police station."

There have been controversies at many places regarding CJP's school visit. The biggest controversy in this matter was seen in Rajasthan when Ashutosh Ranka along with his colleagues had reached a school near Jaipur and some people allegedly attacked his team.

On the latest case of Assam, Abhijeet Deepke wrote on social media

He wrote, "If Ashutosh is not released, I will go to Assam with CJP members. Himanta (Chief Minister of Assam) can arrest all of us."

Abhijeet Deepke said in another post, "Ashutosh Ranka and his team have been taken by the police to an unknown place. He was about to hold a small meeting of workers in Assam with his team."

“If you demand good education, you get this response, but we are not going to back down,” CJP claimed.

Saurav Das, another convener of CJP, alleged, "The detention of Ashutosh and other CJP members shows that Himanta has established the rule of his own will instead of the rule of law in Assam. This is completely illegal and deserves strong condemnation."

He wrote on Twitter, "The CJP family stands strongly with Ashu and his colleagues. We will make every possible effort to ensure their immediate release. You cannot suppress the voices of youth by merely detaining them. We stand together. We will fight together."

On Sunday, Ashutosh Ranka released a video on social media, in which he is seen sitting in a police van.

He told the media, "Himanta Biswa Sarma is afraid that if we show the real condition of the schools of Assam. Himant Mama, we will show the schools, you will also show the condition of Assam to the people of the country."

Ranka said, "Himanta Biswa Sarma is also scared of the fact that he will show to the public that the people fighting for water-forest-land in Kaziranga have been tortured. How the forests are being sold and given to corporates, he will also show to the public."

He said in the video, "How you (Himanta Biswa Sarma) brought about man-made floods, due to which hundreds of people lost their lives in Assam, we will show that too. We will show the condition of your schools to the country."

"I condemn the detention of several Assamese youth, social media influencers and activists in Guwahati. This is completely unacceptable and illegal," Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi wrote in a post on Twitter.

He wrote, "Why is BJP so afraid of the youth? Is it because the youth have rejected BJP's politics of Hindu-Muslim polarization?"

"The scared BJP wants to steal their votes and suppress their voice. I stand with the youth of Assam."

NCP Sharad Pawar faction spokesperson Anish Gawande said at a press conference in Guwahati, "We demand the immediate release of Ashutosh Ranka and his supporters. If this is not done, we will take legal action against the police."

He alleged that the police have detained 41 people, including 6 women activists, from a private house, for which no legal notice was given.

According to Anish Gawande, "What is CJP saying? She is talking about the dilapidated condition of the schools. There are no fans in the schools. There are no classrooms in the schools, there are no teachers. She is talking about how people were removed from Kaziranga and the land was taken away.."
