A nurse surnamed Chen (38 years old) in Taichung was crossing the road on Liuchuan East Road in Western District at around 1 a.m. yesterday when he was hit by Lin Youjia (30 years old) driving a Mercedes-Benz and was crushed to death twice. After the accident, Mr. Lin did not stop to help. Instead, he turned around and ran over the car again. He escaped and surrendered at 3:30 in the morning. The prosecutor requested that he be detained without a ban. The court recognized that his crime was serious and that he was at risk of fleeing, and ruled that he should be detained for two months without a ban. Lin claimed that he committed the crime because he "felt that he was being targeted."
