The Kremlin announces a cessation of strikes on Kyiv for three days, coinciding with the visit of Trump’s envoys

The Kremlin announced on Saturday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had issued instructions not to launch any strikes on Kiev during the next three days, starting at midnight on Saturday, with the arrival of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on a visit to Moscow and then on their first trip to Kiev.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told state media: “This matter is related to the preparation and completion of contacts conducted by the Americans in Kiev.”

Earlier, Russian official media reported that the special envoys of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, arrived in Moscow on Saturday, where they are expected to discuss prospects for ending the war, which has entered its fifth year.

Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, received them at Vnukovo Airport, according to official media reports.

Putin will meet with American envoys later, Saturday, according to Russian official media.

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that two Russian missiles targeted two airports near Kiev, one of which was Boryspil Airport designated for international flights.

Zelensky said: “It is clear that these Russian strikes on airports are a reaction to discussions and preparations related to the possibility of the American side using an aircraft to reach Ukraine.”
