Female Far Eastern leopards create “kindergartens” to raise their cubs together in the wild.

Female leopards raise kittens until they reach the age of 1.5 years, after which the cub begins an independent life.

VLADIVOSTOK, September 11 - RIA Novosti. Scientists have recorded cases when female Far Eastern leopards with kittens in the wild create “kindergartens” to raise their cubs together, Viktor Bardyuk, head of the directorate of the Land of the Leopard reserves, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“It’s interesting that leopards create “kindergartens”. Two females, unrelated, unite and raise kittens together. One goes hunting, the other stays with the kittens. Or they hunt together. There are such described cases,” Bardyuk said.

He noted that females will raise kittens on average until they reach the age of 1.5 years. After this, the cub separates from the mother and begins an independent life.
