Luodong Town launches "Freezing Eggs for Good Pregnancy" program with a maximum subsidy of NT$30,000

The domestic fertility rate has repeatedly reached new lows and faced with the severe challenge of low birthrate. Wu Qiuling, the mayor of Luodong Town in Yilan County, announced today (17th) the promotion of the "Freezing Eggs for Good Pregnancy" program. Married women aged 35 to 45 who have lived in Luodong for more than one year can apply, with a maximum subsidy of 30,000 yuan. This has become the first welfare policy in the county to implement egg freezing subsidies.

Many women of childbearing age postpone marriage and childbearing due to career or financial considerations. Egg freezing technology is regarded as an important option to delay childbearing planning. Luodong Town Office hopes that through "Freezing Eggs for Good Pregnancy", the quality of eggs from their youth can be preserved and provide greater flexibility for childbirth.

Wu Qiuling said that the "Freezing Eggs for Good Pregnancy" service targets not only married women aged 35 to 45 who have been registered in Luodong for one year, but also women aged 18 to 45 who are registered in Luodong Town and have cancer. Those who have been evaluated by doctors as being likely to have a decline or loss of reproductive function during cancer treatment can also apply.

The client should go to a medical institution for egg freezing treatment. Within 6 months after the treatment, the relevant forms and information should be submitted to the Luodong Town Office for application. The actual medical expenses will be verified and paid. The maximum subsidy is 30,000 yuan, once in a lifetime for each person, and 50 places are subsidized per year.

Wu Qiuling said that after taking office as the mayor of Luodong, she implemented the infant and young child nutrition supplement policy in 2021. Last year, the maternal nutrition supplement was increased. The subsidy for the first and second babies was increased to 20,000 yuan, and the third baby was increased to 50,000 yuan. This year, she promoted the "Freezing Eggs for Good Pregnancy", hoping that through these welfare policies, it can reduce the financial pressure of having children and raising families.
