High-end enterovirus vaccine is launched in Vietnam, and children under 3 years old are flocking to register

The high-end enterovirus vaccine was officially launched in Vietnam on the 25th. A seminar was held before the launch. The enterovirus 71 vaccine developed by High-end Vaccine (6547) officially started vaccination in Vietnam today (9/25). Through the local large-scale vaccination system VNVC (Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company), nearly 300 vaccination centers have been established across Vietnam to quickly strengthen the community protection network. On the first day of the campaign, VNVC latest announced that tens of thousands of vaccination registrations have been poured in, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho and other regions, of which about 70% are children under 3 years old, reflecting the high demand for EV71 vaccine among Vietnamese families.

Substipharm is the first enterovirus vaccine to enter Vietnam's public system and is currently the only one. With the official start of vaccination in Vietnam on September 25, Substipharm's vaccine partner Biologics and Vietnam's vaccination system VNVC held two EV71 scientific seminars in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi on September 21 and September 22. Experts in pediatric infectious diseases and neonatology from Taiwan and Vietnam were invited to exchange views on disease burden, vaccine clinical evidence, and Taiwan's actual vaccination experience to establish a scientific and clinical foundation for the official implementation of the EV71 vaccine in Vietnam.

The two seminars respectively invited Taiwanese pediatric infectious disease experts Professor Huang Limin and Professor Qiu Nanchang to share Taiwan's experience with the Vietnamese medical community from the clinical research and launch of EV71 vaccine to actual vaccination and follow-up. Huang Limin said that the EV71 vaccine has been introduced since August 2023. As of September 2026, Taiwan has used more than 600,000 doses, and the vaccination coverage rate among children from 2 months to less than 6 years old is about 20%. Monitoring data shows that since the introduction of the vaccine, EV71 has not been detected in severe cases of hand, foot and mouth disease; before the vaccine was launched, EV71 accounted for a considerable proportion of severe cases.

The high-end enterovirus 71 vaccine obtained Taiwan's drug certificate in 2023 and obtained a marketing authorization issued by the Vietnam Drug Administration in March 2026. The first batch of vaccines were exported to Vietnam in August this year. In September, it further entered the actual market introduction stage and began to be vaccinated against children.

VNVC was established in 2017 and currently has nearly 300 vaccination centers, nearly 300 vaccine cold storages, more than 3,000 diagnosis and treatment and vaccination stations across Vietnam, and is equipped with more than 12,000 doctors, nurses and related professionals; its cold chain system covers large storage centers in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as professional cold chain transportation fleets, forming a national network from vaccine storage and distribution to terminal vaccination.
