Chairman Mun says, “Vietnamese companies hope to participate in 3 major projects”

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Sang-hyun = Prime Minister Han Seong-sook met with Vietnamese National Assembly Speaker Tran Thanh Men, who is on an official visit to Korea, at the Seoul Government Complex on the 7th and discussed ways to expand cooperation.

At this event, Prime Minister Han requested the Vietnamese National Assembly's continued interest and support in resolving the difficulties faced by Korean energy companies operating in Vietnam and in the advancement of Korean companies into infrastructure projects such as high-speed rail and nuclear power plants in Vietnam.

Chairman Mun said that he welcomes the interest of Korean companies in Vietnam's infrastructure projects and requested Korea's attention to ensure that the technology transfer, talent training, and development cooperation agreed between the two countries are well implemented.

In addition, as Prime Minister Han explained the three mega projects that will take Korea to a great leap forward, Chairman Mun expressed his hope for Vietnamese companies to participate in the projects.

Prime Minister Han went on to ask for efforts to continue to develop the 'comprehensive strategic partnership' between the two countries, and Chairman Mun responded by saying that relations have recently grown significantly in areas such as investment, trade, and development cooperation, and to cooperate for sustainable development.

Prime Minister Han also requested special consideration for protecting the rights and interests of second-generation Korean and Vietnamese nationals residing in Vietnam, while also announcing that he would strive to ensure the safety and stable settlement of Vietnamese nationals residing in the country.

In response, Chairman Mun requested attention to promoting the rights and interests of Vietnamese workers in Korea and protecting the rights and interests of multicultural families, and emphasized that he would not spare any support in protecting the rights and interests of Korean citizens in Vietnam.

Korea decided to share its experience of hosting last year's Gyeongju event to successfully host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Vietnam in 2027.
