Gyeyang-gu council member Yeo Jae-man who assaulted the secretary-general at a workshop was disciplined with a 30-day suspension from attendance.

Incheon Gyeyang-gu Assemblyman Yeo Jae-man (42), who assaulted the secretary-general of the assembly at a workshop after-party, was suspended for 30 days from attendance.

Incheon Gyeyang-gu Council reviewed the disciplinary plan against the female member at the plenary session on the 21st and made this decision.

Initially, the National Assembly's Special Committee on Ethics decided to expel Rep. Yeo, the highest level of disciplinary action, and referred it to the plenary session, but the expulsion motion was rejected in a secret vote that day.

It was reported that the quorum for expulsion (more than 7 out of 10 Gyeyang-gu members in favor) was not met.

Accordingly, Gyeyang-gu Council reexamined the 30-day attendance suspension disciplinary plan and passed it with 6 votes in favor, 1 vote against, and 2 abstentions. Disciplinary suspension of attendance requires the attendance of a majority of the registered members and the consent of a majority of the members present.

On the 2nd of last month, Rep. Yeo assaulted Mr. A (59), the secretary general of the district council, who has a congenital disability, because he spoke informally to her at the after-party of a district council workshop held at a resort in Hwado-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon.

The police, who began an investigation following Mr. A's complaint, found the female district council member guilty of violating the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities Act and sent her to the case without detention.
