Police transfer all executives and employees of Dongseong Pharmaceutical without detention on charges of embezzlement worth 30 billion won

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Jae-hoon = The police, which had been investigating allegations that former executives and employees of Dongseong Pharmaceutical, a KOSPI-listed company, embezzled approximately 30 billion won in company money and participated in market manipulation, handed over the case to the Public Prosecution Office.

On the 30th, the Financial Crimes Investigation Unit of the Metropolitan Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent five people, including former Dongsung Pharmaceutical Chairman Lee and former CEO Na, to the Seoul Southern District Public Prosecution Office on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement) and violating the prohibition on price manipulation under the Capital Markets Act.

Mr. Lee is accused of embezzling approximately 25 billion won of company money from 2022 to the end of 2024 and using it to make up for losses incurred from personal futures and options trading.

There are also charges of manipulating the stock price to prevent it from falling below a certain price after entrusting the company's stock as margin for futures and options trading.

Mr. Na is accused of embezzling approximately 6 billion won of company funds and participating in market manipulation despite knowing of Mr. Lee's crime.

In addition, three people who were sent together are suspected of participating in the crime.
