Dongseongro, Daegu, ahead of Halloween… Deploy 550 people to prevent crowd accidents

(Daegu = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Se-jin = During the Halloween period, measures to prevent accidents involving large crowds will be implemented around Dongseong-ro, a busy area in Daegu.

Daegu Jung-gu, Jungbu Police Station, and Jungbu Fire Station announced on the 30th that they will operate a joint crowd accident prevention team and operate an on-site joint situation room during Halloween.

These institutions will begin intensive management from 6 PM to 3 AM the next day on the 30th and 31st, respectively, when the crowds are concentrated.

A total of 550 management personnel, including civil servants, police officers, and firefighters, will be deployed for two days to the on-site situation room, crowd management, emergency rescue, and CCTV control.

Dongseong-ro Club Alley, where the largest crowd of people is expected to gather, utilizes up to eight intelligent CCTVs to check real-time crowd density.

Depending on the degree of crowd density, congestion levels are divided into 'caution on walking', 'congestion', and 'very congestion'.

Congestion was defined as 2 or more people per m2, and very crowded was defined as 4 or more people per m2.

In particular, when it is very crowded, we plan to recommend dispersing the crowd through a joint situation assessment meeting and control entry into alleys.

Autonomous crime prevention teams and volunteer firefighters will also be deployed in front of the old Daegu Department Store and Gyo-dong Street to check the situation in real time.

On the 27th, related organizations jointly toured Dongseong-ro and pre-inspected hazards such as cargo on the road and emergency evacuation routes.
