Seoul City to operate ‘Book Reading Hangang Park’ in the second half of the year until the 31st of next month

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Dong-gyu = The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 9th that it will operate the '2026 Book Reading Hangang Park' in the second half of the year at the Yeouido Hangang Park Multiplaza every Saturday from the 12th to the 31st of next month.

Reading Hangang Park is an outdoor library where you can enjoy reading, performances, games, and experiences along the Han River. In the first half of the year, it was operated 9 times and over 140,000 people visited.

In the second half of the year, about 1,000 old books will be replaced out of the existing 6,000 books and new books will be added.

For the first time, tactile books for infants and toddlers and Braille books for the visually impaired are also available.

The site will feature a reading space with up to 500 seats, an air bounce and ball pit for children, and a craft experience space.

On the opening day, the 12th of this month, puppet shows, fairytale house building, magic shows, and music performances will be held under the theme of ‘Fantasy Bookland.’ Next, the Chuseok Festival will be held on the 19th, with sunset-colored healing yoga, and on the 27th, the Chuseok holiday, with rice cake pounding and large-scale yut play.

On the 10th of next month, the 'Han Seokbong Challenge' will be held, in which participants will challenge themselves to blindly make songpyeon or guess calligraphy and book titles, and on the 17th of next month, the 'Hangang Autumn Jazz Festa' will be held. On the 24th of next month, a book sharing event will be held where people will exchange their 'Book of Life' with other citizens' books.

Park Jin-young, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Hangang Headquarters, said, "We have prepared a variety of programs so that people can enjoy performances, games, and experiences along with books at the Han River in the fall."
