Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, regular performance on September 11th... Premiere of composer Lee Ha-neuri’s new work on the 11th

The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra announced on the 8th that it will hold regular performances on the 9th and 11th.

In the performance on the 9th at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul, pianist Christian Wezawidenhout, a period instrument player (instruments restored to the form of the era in which the work was created), will play various keyboard instruments.

Wezawidenhout will play the harpsichord, a keyboard instrument from the Baroque era, the fortepiano, a form of early piano from the 18th and 19th centuries, and the modern piano, in order to show how the instruments have changed and their different sounds. He plays Telemann's sonata and Mozart's piano trio and quartet.

Bejawidenhout, a South African keyboardist and conductor, won the Bruges Fortepiano Competition at the age of 21 and is recognized as an authority on the interpretation of repertoire from the Baroque era.

At the performance held at the Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul on the 11th, Bejawidenhout and conductor Choi Soo-yeol will take the stage. Soo-yeol Choi served as deputy conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and is currently the artistic director of the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra.

In the first part, Piano Concerto No. 21, Mozart's late masterpiece and widely known as it was included in the movie 'Elvira Madigan', is performed.

In Part 2, the world premiere of ‘As If Ⅱ’, a new work by composer Lee Ha-neuri commissioned by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, will be performed. This large-scale orchestral piece for four pipes reinterprets composer Scriabin's unique harmonic ideas from a modern perspective. Following 'As If II', the orchestra plans to end the performance with Scriabin's Symphony No. 4.
