MOSCOW, October 3 - RIA Novosti. Olympic hockey champion Nikita Gusev explained his move to Sochi with a desire to solve new problems rather than return to memories of past successes.

On October 2, Sochi announced the transfer of 34-year-old forward Gusev. The contract with the hockey player runs until the end of the current season. His last club was Dynamo Moscow, where in the 2023/24 season the forward scored 89 points (23 goals + 66 assists) in 68 matches and set a Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) record for scoring in one regular season.

“We should have moved forward a long time ago, without looking back at the past. Now there are new tasks, we need to solve them. Now there is only one mood: to start helping the team as soon as possible. I am sure that everything will be fine with us. The season is just beginning. Just forward and for victories. There is no other way,” the Sochi website quotes Gusev as saying.

As noted, Gusev held his first training session with the team. The forward's debut is expected in the match against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, which will take place later on Saturday.
