A new school for 320 students with an engineering and technical focus has opened in Nyandoma

ARKHANGELSK, September 1 – RIA Novosti. A new school, designed for 320 students, opened in the city of Nyandoma, Arkhangelsk region, on September 1, one of the key areas of the educational program will be engineering, the press service of the regional government reported.

As the regional government explained, this is one of the most anticipated social facilities for the city. The previous main building of the school was built back in 1940 and was in disrepair, and some of the children studied in the second shift. With the opening of the new building, the educational process will be organized in one shift.

Construction was completed thanks to additional federal support. As Governor Alexander Tsybulsky noted, the corresponding appeal of the Arkhangelsk region was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The total construction cost of the facility was about 1.25 billion rubles.

“The new school is a modern educational space, designed not only for today, but also for the future. But the main thing is what opportunities such a school gives children. A modern school should not only provide knowledge, but also help the child understand his strengths earlier, see his future profession, try himself in different directions and make a more informed choice,” said Tsybulsky, whose words are quoted in the message.

The new four-story building with a total area of ​​almost 14 thousand square meters is designed for 320 places. There are 30 classrooms, two gyms, an assembly hall with 150 seats, a library with a reading room, a medical unit, a psychologist’s office and a dining room with 160 seats with a full-service catering unit.

Particular attention was paid to modern technologies when equipping the school. Interactive panels and automated workstations for teachers have been installed in the classrooms, and kits for robotics and programmable modeling have been purchased. The labor room is equipped with modern machines, the assembly hall is equipped with professional lighting and sound equipment.

“One of the key areas of the educational program will be engineering and technology with a focus on the railway industry. Already in elementary school, children will be able to engage in robotics and learn the basics of railway safety,” the government said. For intermediate students, Python programming, 3D modeling, and in-depth study of physics and biology are provided. The “Assistant Electric Locomotive Driver” program is being implemented jointly with the Nyandoma Railway College.
