Shen Boyang, the Taipei mayoral candidate of the Democratic Progressive Party, was accused by KMT lawmakers of publishing an article in 2014 to promote the "decriminalization of drugs." Taipei Mayor Chiang Wanan even criticized the incident on Facebook. However, DPP candidate Gao Jiayu debated this topic with Kuomintang legislator Ye Yuanzhi in the "TVBS Situation Room" today. He bluntly said that Chiang Kai-shek is more suitable to run for mayor of Taipei than Chiang Kai-shek. He called on Chiang Wanan not to hide behind the Blue Committee and should face his challenger Shen Boyang.

Ye Yuanzhi said that Shen Boyang could clearly explain his views on drugs in the past, but now he uses forceful methods, such as asking Ma Ying-jeou to push out the needles. However, the Ma government's push is not to decriminalize drugs, nor does it believe that drug use is a good thing, or that drug use is the same as taking medicine. But there is a group of people who cannot change their concept of drug abuse in a short period of time, so they remove the needles so that they will not suffer greater harm. "But Shen Boyang is talking about the decriminalization of drugs, which means that drugs are nothing."

Ye Yuanzhi said, if Shen Boyang promotes this concept, will it really make people brave enough to take drugs? But is drug use a good thing for society? Some time ago, the Executive Yuan made a big move to declare a war on drugs. And how many casualties does drug driving cause to society? Shen Boyang actually believes that drugs are a good thing and believes that drugs should be decriminalized.

After hearing this, Gao Jiayu said bluntly, "I think Ye Yuanzhi may be more suitable to be elected mayor of Taipei than Jiang Wanan!" But she must say that Shen Boyang is not afraid of questions or challenges. He has already expressed on Facebook that he welcomes Li Sichuan and Jiang Wanan to debate drug prevention and control policies. Jiang Wanan also found out that KMT Taipei City Councilor Zhong Peijun once questioned Jiang and asked who the director of the Drug Control Center was. Jiang Wanan was confused, but Zhong Peijun said, "It's you!" Jiang Wanan didn't even know that he was the director of the Drug Control Center.

Gao Jiayu said that when it comes to drug prevention and control, Shen Boyang, who is a scholar, has policies and ideas that can promote more and better policies in Taipei City. The key point is that Jiang Wanan must be willing to come out and have a good debate on municipal affairs, so that the people can judge and make choices, instead of hiding behind Ye Yuanzhi today, or finding five legislators to be spokespersons, and finding some little girls to hold press conferences.

"The key point is Jiang Wanan himself," Gao Jiayu said. He is the center of the entire municipal government and the current head of Taipei City. Chiang should come out to defend his policies and face his challenger Shen Boyang.
