Captain Smit Mosquito said- I was down but knew what to do.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to flydubai pilot Captain Smit Machhar over phone and praised his courage and wisdom.

PM Modi said that prayers are being offered across the country for his long life and speedy recovery. He said that the entire country is proud of the decision taken by Captain Smit to save the lives of the passengers despite serious injuries.

The Prime Minister said, "The entire nation is praying for you. Mahamrityunjaya chanting is going on everywhere. Your courage, patience and wisdom saved the lives of so many people. You showed that Indians are "life savers and not life takers."

पीएम मोदी ने कहा कि कैप्टन स्मित स्वयं गंभीर रूप से घायल थे और जीवन-मृत्यु की लड़ाई लड़ रहे थे, लेकिन उन्होंने अपनी जान की परवाह किए बिना यात्रियों की सुरक्षा को प्राथमिकता दी। उन्होंने कहा कि इस साहसिक क़दम से कैप्टन स्मित ने 140 करोड़ देशवासियों का मान बढ़ाया है。

Captain Smit narrated his ordeal

Captain Smit told the Prime Minister that he had fallen during the incident and had sustained multiple injuries. इसके बावजूद उन्हें महसूस हो रहा था कि विमान के भीतर स्थिति बिगड़ रही है。

Smit said, I felt that if I did not get up and take some action, the situation would get worse. I have been flying for 17 years and have been a captain for the last 11 years. Even with my eyes closed, I can understand what is happening on the plane. जब मैं नीचे गिरा हुआ था, तब मुझे एहसास हो रहा था कि स्थिति ख़राब हो रही है।"

Captain Smit said he made a last effort to open the cockpit door, allowing others to enter. उन्होंने कहा कि इस पूरी कोशिश में बाक़ी लोगों की भी अहम भूमिका थी。

"I was trying to save my life, but at the same time I knew I couldn't let those people die," he said.

Got encouragement from Hanuman Chalisa

Captain Smit became emotional during the conversation with the Prime Minister. उन्होंने कहा कि वह दर्द के दौरान हनुमान चालीसा का पाठ करते रहे और उन्हें भरोसा है कि भगवान ने ही उनकी जान बचाई。

He said, "I am very positive. Whenever I feel pain, the only thing that comes to my mind is reciting Hanuman Chalisa. I know that God has saved me."

कैप्टन स्मित ने कहा कि वह अपनी चोट को केवल घाव के रूप में नहीं देख रहे हैं, बल्कि इसे एक ऐसी यात्रा मान रहे हैं जिसमें धीरे-धीरे रिकवरी होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें पूरा भरोसा है कि वह फिर से पूरी तरह स्वस्थ हो जाएंगे。

उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि रोज़ सुबह पूजा के समय उनका दो वर्षीय बेटा उनकी गोद में बैठता है और वह उसे हनुमान चालीसा सुनाते हैं। Captain Smit said that despite living abroad, one should not stay away from one's culture.

PM appreciated the patience of the family

प्रधानमंत्री ने कैप्टन स्मित के पिता भूपेंद्रभाई, माँ गीताबेन और पत्नी सोनलबेन से हुई अपनी बातचीत का उल्लेख किया. पीएम मोदी ने कहा कि गीताबेन ने स्मित को अच्छे संस्कार दिए हैं. He also praised Sonalben's courage and restraint.

The Prime Minister said that in different parts of the country including Savarkundla, prayers are being offered for the long life and good health of Captain Smit. उन्होंने कहा कि पूरा भारत कैप्टन स्मित के स्वस्थ होकर लौटने का इंतज़ार कर रहा है.

पीएम मोदी ने सऊदी अरब और यूएई की सरकारों का भी कैप्टन स्मित की देखभाल और इलाज के लिए आभार जताया. उन्होंने कहा कि ज़रूरत पड़ने पर वह सिर्फ़ एक फोन कॉल की दूरी पर हैं.

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा, "आपने सचमुच भारत का नाम बचाया है. आप पूरी तरह स्वस्थ हो जाइए, पूरा देश आपके साथ है." At the end of the conversation, the Prime Minister asked Captain Smit to get well soon and then both of them would discuss the rest together.
