Chinese giant pandas "Ping Ping" and "Fu Shuang" arrive in Atlanta, USA, starting a ten-year sojourn

Male giant panda "Ping Ping" and female giant panda "Fu Shuang" were born in Chengdu, Sichuan on March 17, 2020 and October 18, 2020 respectively.

According to reports, China has arranged for two groups of veterinarians and breeders to go to Atlanta Zoo in advance to make various preparations. Chinese personnel will be stationed in the park to take care of the two giant pandas through the isolation and quarantine period, and carry out stress adaptation and behavioral training to help them adapt to the new environment as soon as possible.

Zoo Atlanta President Raymond B. King said that day that he was "extremely excited" about the arrival of the two pandas. Today is a "historic day" for the zoo, Atlanta, and the state of Georgia.

According to Zoo Atlanta, "Pingping" and "Fushuang" will undergo routine quarantine for one month, and the zoo will announce the time when the two giant pandas will meet the public later.

According to the zoo, the cooperation between Zoo Atlanta and China in the field of giant panda protection began in 1999. Giant pandas "Lun Lun" and "Yang Yang" arrived in Atlanta in 1999 and returned to China in 2024. "Lun Lun" and "Yang Yang" gave birth to a total of 7 giant panda cubs while at Zoo Atlanta.
