The US conducted a secret operation to clear mines in the Strait of Hormuz

The United States conducted a covert operation to clear mines in the Strait of Hormuz for four months. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT), citing its own sources.

In an attempt to secure the passage of ships along this waterway, the US Navy deployed special forces divers, robotic boats and special underwater vehicles. At night, small groups of sappers found mines on inflatable boats, installed explosives on them and thus got rid of them. The operation was carried out without casualties among personnel.

In late August, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that a supertanker in the Strait of Hormuz encountered two naval mines while attempting to navigate a route in the southern part of the strait without permission from Tehran.
