The Russian Ministry of Education and Science has changed the methodology for determining budget places in universities

The Russian Ministry of Education and Science has made changes to the methodology for determining the total number of budget places for the higher education system in connection with the transition to a seven-year forecasting of the personnel needs of the Russian economy, the press service of the ministry told RIA Novosti.

“The changes made to the methodology are related to the transition of the Russian Ministry of Labor to seven-year forecasting of the personnel needs of the Russian economy. This, in particular, will allow the Russian Ministry of Education and Science to more accurately take into account the regional structure of the personnel forecast while reducing the bureaucratic burden on the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to obtain the necessary information,” the message says.

In connection with the increase in the forecasting horizon, the composition of the data used by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation to determine the need for university graduates and calculate the number of budget places for training at all levels of higher education will also change.

“At the same time, an indicator is introduced into the methodology that takes into account the structure of the Russian economy’s replacement needs for personnel, which will make it possible to clarify the range of professions in demand in the regions,” the ministry concluded.
