Iranian President: It’s time to end the war in the Middle East and the United States plans to increase sanctions and pressure

(Central News Agency, Tehran/Washington, 21st Comprehensive Foreign News Report) Iranian President Perzeskian said today that it is time to end the months-long Middle East war with the United States because Tehran appears to be in a better position than Washington. However, as Iran claims to be in a favorable position, the United States will increase sanctions to further put pressure on Iran.

Agence France-Presse reports that the United States and Iran, long-time enemies, are still suspending negotiations. The war launched by the United States and Israel in February has reached a stalemate.

"We are now in a strong and dignified position, so it is best to end this war as soon as possible," Masoud Pezeshkian said today.

He also defended the memorandum of understanding reached with the United States in June to end the war, insisting that it did not represent Iran's defeat. "They couldn't find any clause in this agreement that showed surrender. All the commitments were related to the other party."

Perzeskian's remarks came weeks after Iran's supreme leader Mujtaba. Mojtaba Khamenei said he had approved the deal to end the war despite his "different views".

According to US media reports, the US military has been organizing and escorting a clandestine tanker fleet in the southern waters of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing the export of approximately 5 million to 10 million barrels of crude oil per day.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent yesterday vowed that Washington would "collapse the Iranian regime" through planned sanctions. This conversation highlights that the Trump administration is gradually shifting its pressure on Iran from military to economic means. He will further explain relevant measures at a press conference on the 24th.

Iran's foreign ministry condemned the US plan, accusing Washington of "economic terrorism" and said "the instigators of these sanctions should be tried and punished".
