Meghan faces challenges in returning to the UK: Public image and royal relationship become the focus

How Meghan Markle, the wife of Britain's Prince Harry, will readjust to life after returning to the UK will be a big challenge. Meghan remains unpopular in Britain and has to deal with an awkward relationship with the royal family.

Agence France-Presse reported that Meghan, 45, has repeatedly talked about the difficulties of living in the UK after marrying Harry in 2018 through explosive interviews and revealing documentaries.

Meghan and Harry have also repeatedly complained about the way the British media treats her. When Harry testified in court this year, he even said that the media made Meghan's life "miserable."

British royal expert Ed Owens said: "I think there will be more questions about Meghan and how she adjusts to life in the UK than about Harry."

He pointed out that it is difficult to answer how Meghan will respond because "over the past six years, she has tried again and again to reshape her public image and relaunch her personal brand."

Prince Harry takes his charity work very seriously and wants his children to have a closer connection with the family, so he has always maintained a close relationship with the UK, but for Meghan, the situation seems to be more complicated.

British media reported that the couple's unexpected decision to return to the UK, six years after they stepped down from royal duties, was partly because Meghan, who starred in the US series "Suits," was in talks to join Netflix's British series "The Gentlemen."

However, experts believe that Meghan may focus on her family life, especially her 7-year-old son Archie and 5-year-old daughter Lilibet. The two children have been registered in British schools and will start classes in September.

In the United States, with the end of the collaboration on Netflix's lifestyle and cooking show "With Love, Meghan", Meghan's local development seems to have hit a bottleneck.

A movie she shot at the end of last year will be released soon, in which she briefly guest-starred as herself. During her trip to Australia, she also guest-starred in an episode of "MasterChef Australia".

Jonathan Shalit, chairman of agency InterTalent Rights Group, told the Press Association, "If Meghan decided tomorrow that she really wanted to act again, directors and producers would absolutely want to meet with her and have her audition."

However, Meghan is still very unpopular in the UK. Survey results released by YouGov, a polling agency, at the end of July showed that 65% of the British people had a negative view of her.

Nathalie Weiduse, a media expert at the University of Surrey, said Meghan's return to the UK could draw renewed attention to "the conflicts and issues that led to their departure", including accusations of racial discrimination.

In addition, Harry's publication of his memoir "Spare" in 2023 has also worsened tensions within the royal family.
