Boris Johnson called for the confiscation of Russian assets after the evacuation of a train in Ukraine

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a statement after the train he was traveling on from Ukraine to Poland was evacuated amid the threat of a drone attack. The former prime minister called for strengthening Ukraine's defense and providing Kyiv with the necessary air defense capabilities.

Johnson stressed that it is high time for European Union (EU) countries to confiscate Russia's frozen assets and use them to support the Ukrainian side. “There are more than 140 billion euros in the bank in Belgium and about 10 billion pounds in the bank in London,” he noted.

The former British Prime Minister expressed confidence that the military conflict could be ended faster if London and other allies of Kyiv take Ukraine’s requests seriously and provide the country with all the necessary weapons.

Other politicians and the former head of the CIA were nearby the station at the time of the attack.

In addition to the former British prime minister, other high-ranking European officials were on the train. All of them were returning from Kyiv to Warsaw after the annual conference “Yalta European Strategy”.

So, at the time of the evacuation, the adviser to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on foreign policy and security, Günter Sautter, and the Bundestag member from the Greens, Robin Wagener, were nearby. Among the conference participants were former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, national security advisers from the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy, as well as representatives of European governments, but there is no information about whether they traveled on the same train.

In addition, it is reported that at the time of the air raid, former CIA chief David Petraeus was on another train at the same station. The American official himself, in a conversation with New Your Times, admitted that he was frightened by the sound of a drone flying over his train. According to him, almost immediately after the passengers were evacuated, a powerful explosion was heard - the drone hit a nearby freight-passenger train. “For those who were not under fire, it was terrible,” Petraeus noted.

None of the passengers were injured

On the morning of September 13, Russian troops used a Geranium-type drone to hit the locomotive of the Kyiv-Warsaw train at the Yagodin station in the Volyn region, about two kilometers from the border with Poland. At the same time, the train crew was warned about the threat of attack in advance, so no one was hurt, writes the Rybar Telegram channel.

According to the author of the channel, Mikhail Zvinchuk, at about five o’clock in the morning the train was stopped due to an air raid alarm, and an evacuation was carried out. It is emphasized that the diplomatic train with European politicians was near the station at the time the danger of a drone attack was announced, and at the time of the drone strike, Johnson’s train had already passed the station.
