Shen Boyang signed 4 debate posts! Wu Siyao calls out to Jiang Wanan: Keep your phone on 24 hours a day to discuss quickly

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wanan and Democratic Progressive Party candidate for Taipei mayor Shen Boyang have agreed to participate in the TV debate hosted by TVBS. The follow-up time and format are still to be negotiated. Wu Siyao, a DPP legislator and director-general of Shen Boyang's campaign office, said today (8th) that Shen Boyang has already signed invitations to debates from four media outlets including FTV, Sanli, Mirror TV and TVBS. His position is that "there must be debates", "come to debates as soon as possible" and "the more debates, the better". He called on the Chiang camp to start consultations as soon as possible and incorporate cross-examination into the debate process so that the two sides can directly confront each other on municipal issues.

Shen Boyang has publicly called for debates with Jiang Wanan many times recently, and even invited debates on drug policy. Jiang Wanan’s campaign office stated that both parties have signed a consent form for the TVBS debate invitation. Subsequently, the TV station and staff from both parties will coordinate the time, location, content and related formats of the debate, and hope to complete the arrangements as soon as possible.

Wu Siyao's interview today explained that the election time is getting closer and closer, and the whole society is waiting for when the debate between the two mayoral candidates can take place and when it can take off. The team is very happy to see Shen Boyang's electoral connotation and electoral culture with municipal administration as the main axis being seen and supported by the society. Regarding the holding of debates, Shen Boyang has three positions: there must be debates, come to debates as soon as possible, and the more debates, the better.

Wu Siyao revealed that Shen Boyang had signed the FTV debate invitation on August 29, the Sanli invitation on September 9, the Mirror TV invitation on September 16, and the TVBS invitation on September 20. The four media outlets each have their own expertise, representativeness, and different audiences. Shen Boyang is willing to accept invitations from all media and "attends every event." Therefore, he hopes that all four media outlets can hold debates.

Wu Siyao emphasized that there are only 51 days left before the election. A high-quality debate needs to be fully arranged. Time is already very tight. Both camps should sit down as soon as possible to discuss the time, venue and format of the debate, and allow the host media to have ample time for planning.

As for the format of the debate, Wu Siyao pointed out that he hopes that consultations between the two camps will be given priority. However, the debate is not a one-way political opinion presentation. In addition to the candidates' respective opinions, more importantly, they can ask each other questions and answer truthfully. She believes that cross-examination is a very good way that allows both parties to directly conduct municipal confrontations, policy discussions and exchanges of opinions. Shen Boyang is very happy to accept it and hopes to include cross-examination as an important element of the debate process.

Wu Siyao reiterated that Shen Boyang's camp hopes that the debate will be held as soon as possible, so that Taipei citizens can fully understand the opinions of both sides on municipal issues through direct confrontation between the candidates, and also hopes that Chiang Wanan's team will contact him as soon as possible.
