'Kim Sang-sik Magic' led Samsung's 4th consecutive win after being ranked last for 10,000 years... “We will become more united”

Even when Seoul Samsung, the ‘last place for 10,000 years’ in professional basketball that no one expected, went on a winning streak following its first win in the opening game, there were doubtful views from those around them.

However, now that the team has achieved its fourth consecutive win, no one doubts that Samsung has completely changed.

Samsung, which ranked last (10th) for five consecutive seasons from the 2021-2022 season to last season, defeated Changwon LG 93-86 in the 2026-2027 KCC professional basketball regular league home game held at Jamsil Student Gymnasium in Seoul on the 15th.

They previously defeated Suwon KT, Anyang CheongKwanJang, and Goyang Sono, and then defeated LG that day, achieving their fourth consecutive win in 23 years since the 2003-2004 season.

Samsung coach Kim Sang-sik, who had humbled himself and said, "I'm also embarrassed because we won three games in a row" in an interview before the game, smiled at the press conference after the game and said, "The players have gained confidence, and seeing them do that also gives me confidence."

Coach Kim emphasized, “I definitely feel that the team has changed as I see the players gathering together and talking with each other as the score gap increases and catching up, and talking about things I missed,” and added, “We will work harder to make this close-knit team culture our own team culture.”

On the other hand, coach Cho Sang-hyun of last season's regular league champion LG sighed deeply over the ups and downs of the team's performance.

The absence of starting shooter Yoo Yu-sang due to injury and key player behind the goal, Assem Marey, was absent that day due to an eye injury was painful.

Coach Cho pointed out the loss, saying, “Today, without Marey, we lost out in the battle for height, and there was no player who could act as a focal point on the court.”

He continued, “We have survived with our defense over the past five years, but in this season’s system with two foreign players playing at the same time, I think we will need to refine the defensive changes in detail,” adding, “The results will vary depending on how much Carl Tamayo or Yang Hong-seok control the opposing big man. We need to improve our defense in more detail, and Marey’s help is important in that process.”
