Gyeongbuk announces vision for strategic industry anchor university by investing KRW 60 billion over 4 years

Gyeongbuk Province held the 'Gyeongbuk Strategic Industry Anchor University Vision Declaration Ceremony' at Yeungnam University on the 15th, with Executive Governor Hwang Myeong-seok, presidents of Yeungnam University, Kyungwoon University, Daegu Catholic University, Daegu University, and Kyungil University, and corporate officials in attendance.

At the event, the joint vision of the five anchor universities and each university's projects were introduced.

Yeungnam University plans to train 4,000 AI talents and build an AI research and verification base centered on Yeongcheon (mobility), Gyeongsan (ICT), and Uiseong (bio).

Kyungwoon University plans to foster 6,000 talents in the future aviation field, and Daegu Catholic University, Daegu University, and Kyungil University plan to jointly operate a bio convergence major to foster 10,000 bio talents.

The province and universities will invest 60 billion won over four years to foster talent for these strategic industries.

Gyeongbuk Province Administrative Governor Hwang Myeong-seok said, “In the era of artificial intelligence, it is important for universities to cultivate talent with the capabilities needed by companies and industrial sites,” and added, “We will do our best to foster talent together with local companies and create an environment where talent can learn, work, and grow in the region.”
