Ordu Metropolitan Municipality aims to increase tourism with the restoration of Ayanikola Island

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality is implementing an important project to bring Ayanikola Island, one of Ünye's historical and cultural heritage, to tourism. Restoration and landscaping works continue on the island, which attracts attention with its church ruins.

Within the scope of the project carried out by the KUDEB unit of the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Planning and Urbanization with the support of Ordu Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Directorate (YİKOB), the historical building is being restored in accordance with its original texture. With the works to be completed in a short time, the area will have an aesthetic and visitable appearance.

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has frequently come to the fore with the restoration works it has previously carried out. It was claimed that historical wooden parts were destroyed during the restoration of Gürgentepe Eskiköy Wooden Mosque. In addition, it was brought to the agenda that the restoration works in Çamaş Cevat Bey Mansion were not in accordance with the original. It was claimed that pieces of the mansion were scattered around and the building was virtually "destroyed by turning it into a pile of rubble".

While the issue was brought to the agenda of the Parliament, the municipality announced that the work had come to an end.
