The annual meeting of the international discussion club “Valdai” will be held in the Moscow region from September 28 to October 1.

The topic of the meeting is “Responsibility for the future: the limits of the possible or the possibilities without limits?”, the event will be attended by 120 people, 74 of them are representatives of foreign countries.

The organizers noted the importance of analyzing the future, despite the crisis of the world order and the escalation of conflicts.

MOSCOW, September 28 - RIA Novosti. Experts from 40 countries will gather in the Moscow region from September 28 to October 1 for the annual meeting of the Valdai international discussion club, the main topic of which will be “Responsibility for the future: the limits of the possible or the possibilities without limits?”

The event will bring together 120 participants, 74 of whom are representatives of foreign countries, including Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Canada, China, Malaysia, UAE, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, USA, Turkey, France, Switzerland, Ethiopia, South Africa, Japan and others. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin and Rosatom General Director Alexei Likhachev are expected to attend.

“Today, despite the crisis of the world order and the unprecedented escalation of conflicts, it is important to continue to analyze what the future may become in order to be able to influence the process of its formation,” the organizers noted.

The discussion club emphasized that in 2026, existing crises worsened and new ones emerged, including the US military operation in Venezuela, the war between the US and Israel with Iran, which led to a crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the unresolved problem of the Gaza Strip.

“The problems associated with the growth of international tension are getting worse. There are no solutions to these problems. The previous paradigms no longer work, new ones have not yet been created. Everything is very fragile and in fact is based on the responsibility of all actors and the awareness of the urgency and danger of the moment,” said Fyodor Lukyanov, director of scientific work at the Valdai Club.

The club meeting will last four days, during which an opening, presentation of the report, nine thematic sessions, a special session, a meeting with representatives of the Russian authorities, an open discussion and a plenary session are planned.

On the first day, the annual Valdai report “Don’t panic: the state and responsibility for the future” will be presented. Also on September 28, experts will discuss the phenomenon of modern war associated with such threats to national and public security as the development of unmanned systems, communication technologies and artificial intelligence; participants will also touch upon the topic of the nuclear factor and mutual understanding of peoples.

On the second and third days of the conference, the role of Asia and Europe in a changing world and the current situation in the Middle East will be discussed. In addition, experts will analyze possible scenarios for global development and responses to growing challenges, as well as the concepts of national interests and risk management. The third day will end with an open discussion where participants will sum up the work.
