The EU is considering creating separate accession roadmaps for Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova and Albania

The European Union (EU) is considering creating separate road maps with a phased accession plan for the four candidate countries. We are talking about Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova and Albania, Politico reports, citing two senior European Commission officials involved in the preparation of the initiatives.

According to the publication’s interlocutors, the documents should define specific requirements for each country and the estimated time frame for completing the negotiation process. Candidate countries will be able to progress towards membership provided they implement the necessary reforms.

As the interlocutors noted, Ukraine and three other countries are considered the most advanced applicants for membership in the European Union, however, negotiations on their accession are still going slowly, and the exact terms of membership have not been determined.
