Kim Hyun-cheol declares support for Han Dong-hoon in Busan Bukgap by-election

Kim Hyun-cheol, the second son of former President Kim Young-sam (YS) and chairman of the Kim Young-sam Presidential Memorial Foundation, said on the 23rd that he supports independent candidate Han Dong-hoon, who is running in the Busan Bukgap National Assembly by-election.

At a press conference held at Candidate Han's election camp this afternoon, Chairman Kim introduced Candidate Han like his father, former President Kim, and asked for support.

Chairman Kim said, "We, the great citizens of Busan, made my father, former President Kim Young-sam, a great politician with 7 terms in office, and appointed him as the president of this country in order to protect the rule of law. Candidate Han Dong-hoon also plans to start politics in Busan by following this spirit of YS."

He then emphasized, "When he was the leader of the ruling party, Candidate Han was the first person to stop the illegal martial law imposed by the then President with his whole body," and added, "Such a candidate was not loyal to people, but was loyal only to the people and the country."

Chairman Kim said, "The great citizens of Busan must actively help a candidate like this," and added, "Please gather your strength for a candidate who will save the country and conservatives. I hope this is well conveyed not only to the residents of Buk-gu but also to all Busan citizens."

One candidate said, “President Kim Young-sam changed the Republic of Korea by receiving the love and trust of Busan with the spirit of YS,” and promised, “I will rebuild conservatism and protect the Republic of Korea.”

Meanwhile, prior to his declaration of support on this day, Chairman Kim stated that there was no problem in supporting a candidate personally, not in his capacity as chairman of the foundation.
