Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, reborn as a former Seonghwadae golf course complex athletic facility

Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do Gwangju Unified Special City, announced on the 16th that it will carry out a project to create a new sports and leisure complex at the old Seonghwa University golf course.

In September 2024, 4 billion won, including government funds received from being selected as a public offering project, will be spent to create a complex sports facility that combines sports and leisure functions by utilizing the existing 4-story golf course building.

A kids cafe and multi-purpose gym will be built on the 1st and 2nd floors, and the existing golf driving range facilities will be remodeled on the 3rd and 4th floors to be used as a golf physical education space.

The county plans to transform the existing facility into a sports space that can be conveniently used by various age groups, from children to golf enthusiasts and general residents, while maximizing the function of the existing facility.

After completing the design by next month and going through various administrative procedures, construction is scheduled to begin in January of next year.

County Governor Kang Jin-won said, “The old Seonghwa University golf course has grown lush with trees and miscellaneous trees, so we will first reorganize the surrounding environment and create a new complex sports facility for residents through systematic design.”
