44 Chinese experts won the 2026 "IEC1906 Award", and the number of winners reached a record high

A total of 44 experts from China have won the award, and the number of winners has reached a record high.

The "IEC1906 Award" was established in 2004. It is an annual award established to commemorate the establishment of IEC. It aims to commend active technical experts who have made outstanding contributions in the development of IEC international standards, technical activities and conformity assessment work. It is an important yardstick for measuring the depth of participation and contribution level of experts from various countries in the IEC technical system.

In 2026, a total of 231 experts from 26 countries around the world will win awards, and the number of winners in China will account for 19% of the total number of winners. China's 44 award-winning experts come from 33 fields, which are highly coordinated with the strategic direction of the country's "15th Five-Year Plan".

Experts in the field of new power systems and new energy account for about 32%, covering key directions such as power system operation and control, UHV DC transmission, flexible transmission and power electronics, solar thermal power generation and photovoltaics, electrochemical energy storage, pumped storage and hydropower generation, ocean energy power generation and grid connection.

Traditional industrial fields account for about 43%, covering intelligent manufacturing and industrial process measurement and control, low-voltage electrical and protection equipment, measurement relays and protection equipment, household appliance performance and safety, rail transit electrical traction and signal communications, nuclear instrumentation and radiation protection, etc.

The field of digital intelligence empowerment and information technology accounts for about 14%, covering new generation information technology, audio, video and multimedia systems, smart cities, smart energy and transportation electrification. The new materials field accounts for about 7%, covering nanomaterials, new display materials, magnetic materials and electronic components, electronic circuit substrates, etc.

In addition, Chinese experts have also won awards in future industry directions such as hydrogen fuel cells and renewable energy conformity assessment, showing that China is seizing the opportunity in the layout of cutting-edge technology standards for the future.

The State Administration for Market Regulation said that this award not only highly recognized the personal technical contributions of Chinese experts, but also demonstrated China's technical strength and rising global influence in the field of international electrotechnical standardization.
